June 30, 2018: "Asteroid day" at the City of Science in Tunis
(TFS) - On the occasion of the World Asteroids Day,
the City of Science Planetarium in Tunis is organizing on 30 June 2018, a day
fully dedicated to, expositions, conferences, and scientific workshops on
asteroids, in order to inform the Tunisian public about the most recent news in
astronomical missions and subjects related to asteroids.
The program consists of several planetarium sessions,
starting with a brief presentation of the day, followed by a special exposition
under the theme “"Asteroid Mission Extreme" by National Geographic
(10h30 – 11h30).
In parallel will be taking place a conference entitled
“Live Asteroid Day of Luxembourg” in Auditorium Ibn Khaldoun (10h30 – 11h30),
followed by another lecture by Pr. Zouhair BEN KHALDOUN entitled “Can the sky
fall on our heads?” (11h30 – 12h30).
For the evening however, a number of scientific
workshops will take place in Ibn Al Haytham auditorium starting with;
“Kirkwood Divisions” by The Tunisian Astronomical Society (S.A.T.) which will take place (13h00 – 14h00), followed by “Impacts and Forms of Asteroids” by the Tunisian Association of Young Astronomers (TAYA) (14h00 – 15h00), and finishing with “Asteroid Detection” by Youth Science Association of Tunisia (AJST) (15h00 – 16h00 ).

Asteroid Day de Luxembourg” show which will be displayed at Auditorium Ibn
Khaldoun (15h00 – 16h00), followed by a 45 minute quiz on asteroids (16h00 –
16h45).
Finally, the Award ceremony & Closing of the Day
will be taking place at Auditorium Ibn Khaldoun ‘16h45 – 17h00).
